Spec Racer Ford (SRF) is an enclosed wheel, open cockpit, purpose built race car. Power is by a Ford 1.9 liter, hemispherical head, four-cylinder engine prepared by SCCA Enterprises. The car is extremely responsive with it's low weight of 1670 pounds and low center of gravity. With over 800 cars delivered, the SRF enjoys being the largest class of road racing cars within the SCCA and the country. The car is raced by amateurs and pros alike at such venues as Laguna Seca, Sears Point, Road America, Watkins Glen, Road Atlanta, and many other tracks around the country.

Every Spec Racer Ford is a one design, fixed specification car. The very first cars are the same as the last car delivered. Engines and transmissions are sealed to prevent enhancements. With all cars the same, a premium is put on driver ability and competition, not who spends the most money. The Spec Racer Ford has put an end to the constant search for the next costly improvement.

SCCS Club Racing The Spec Racer Ford is the most popular category of racing in the SCCA's numerous Club Racing events, with as many as 2,000 racers participating nationwide in amateur Spec Racer events each year.
Pro Spec Racer Since all cars are identical, SCCA Pro Racing's Pro Spec Racer is the most competitive, yet economical professional racing series in North America. Many of today's top professional road racers, including Dorsey Schroeder, David Murry, Scott Lagasse and Robbie Buhl, have backgrounds driving the SCCA Spec Racer, either in Club Racing competition or when the series, known as the SCCA Sports Renault Challenge, first made a limited professional run from 1985-87.
