This 1995 Ferrari F355 Challenge car was converted to full Challenge specification in fall of 2000 by Ferrari of Washington DC for the 2001 North American Ferrari Challenge Series. It was also set up to run in SCCA's National T1 class.

Weighing in a 2900 pounds and sporting an output of nearly 410 horsepower, performance is extraordinary. The 3.5 liter 90° V8 engine develops it maximum power at 8750 rpm with a redline of 9000 rpm. Maximum torque is 268 lbs-ft at 6000 rpm. The specific output of this remarkable 5-valve unit is 109bhp per liter. Along with titanium valve springs, the light forged aluminum alloy pistons drive the crankshaft through titanium alloy con rods previously seen only in Formula 1 engines. The engine's greatest innovation is its five-valves per cylinder, three intake and two exhaust, that combined high revs with high intake permeability maximizing gross efficiency.

The 355 uses a transverse six speed gearbox and the ratios allow for a top speed of 185 + miles per hour. Stopping power is provided by huge 380 mm front discs in conjunction with Brembo four piston calipers first seen on Ferrari's 333SP racing prototype which has won the 24 Hour's of LeMans. Stopping power is incredible and fade non-existent.

The suspension differs completely from the street 355. Ferrari has used many aluminum parts along with superior spherical bearings and stronger suspension parts. The car has larger sway bars than a street 355 and uses adjustable race dampers with extremely stiff 2200 pound springs at all four corners.

Along with the required safety gear (OMP cage, seats, harnesses, etc.) the car has been lightened by the use of carbon fiber bumpers front and rear and the complete deletion of most of the interior.

Traction is provided by Pirelli PZero D3 competition slicks or Dunlop D compound race slicks mounted on 18 X 10 lightweight Speedline magnesium race wheels at the rear and 18 X 8 wheels in the front.

Lastly, down force is provided at the rear of the car with two large FIA diffusers connected to an aero under tray and a carbon fiber rear wing, which is fully adjustable for maximum down force.

Note: Car was sold in 2004
