Flatoutracing/Team iCarp and Guident Technologies Dominate Beaverun!

Sept. 4th (Wampum, PA)

This past weekend the East Coast Honda Challenge Series held rounds 9 and 10 at the annual Labor Day races at Beaverun Motorsports Complex. The Flatoutracing/iCarp Team sponsored by Hankook Tires and Guident Technologies dominated both rounds with Jon Kofod and Andrew Zimmermann finishing 1st and 2nd on both days.

Kofod sat on pole both days with identical times (1:08.7) with Zimmermann just a shade behind. Kofod was able to win both races with relative ease as Zimmermann struggled with braking issues for most of the weekend. Zimmermann's weekend started off on the wrong foot when he was unable to avoid contact with Jerry Birchmore in the #38 H4 CRX during qualifying. Birchmore spun in turn 1 and Zimmermann was unable to avoid Birchmore's car, damaging both cars. Zimmermann suffered damage to his passenger door and Birchmore sustained heavy damage to his rear bumper section.

The highlight of the weekend was Zimmermann's second place victory in Sunday's race. Starting along side Kofod in H4 class Zimmermann spun in turn one on the second lap and rejoined the race in dead last place. Over the ensuing 28 laps Zimmermann starting reeling in the slower H5 cars and steadily worked his way back into second place, passing nearly half the field for a hard earned podium.

At this stage in the season Flatoutracing/Team iCarp is a sure lock to win the H4 title in Nasa Pro Racing's East Coast Honda Challange. The only question will be whether Kofod or Zimmermann takes the title. Even though Kofod has won 6 straight races and leads the point's chase, he must finish each of the next four races to qualify for the title. Zimmermann is right behind in the points chase and can take the title if Kofod either fails to finish a race or falters at season's end.

The team once again wishes to thank both Hankook Tires and Guident Technologies for their season long support. "We ran a new compound from Hankook this weekend and I was immediately half a second quicker in both qualifying sessions than last year" stated Kofod. "The tires not only proved fast but also highly durable in both races which lasted nearly 30 laps. There was literally no fall off on lap times between the first few laps and the last few laps."

The next two rounds will be held at Summit Point Motorsport Complex on September 24th and 25th.
