Capping off their newly crowned MARRS ITS title with a season ending win in dominant fashion was the perfect way to end the 2007 SCCA Mid Atlantic Road Racing Series for the Flatoutracing/Hankook Tires team.

Driver Jon Kofod was never seriously challenged during Round 10 of the series. Kofod garnered his third win of the season and sat on pole and set fastest lap during the race and finished 3rd overall among the much faster ITR class BMW’s.  Kofod started from the second row of the grid with the three faster ITR BMW 328i’s of Marshall Lytle, Dan Jones, and Sam Asinugo. Kofod’s fantastic start saw him ahead of both Jones and Asinugo by turn one challenging Lytle for the lead for the first lap. Eventually Asinugo would get by for a brief time (Jones ended up spinning off the track).

Except for a mid race battle with the faster ITR class BMW 328i of Sam Asinugo, Kofod cruised home with an 18 second gap back to the second place # 00 ITS Datsun driven by Nathan Lucas of Lucas Racing. Nigel Patterson, driving the #04 ITS Mazda RX7 rounded out the ITS podium in third place.

“It was great being able to show up this weekend and not have any pressure on us” noted Kofod, who had already clinched the championship at the previous MARRS Labor Day Double race weekend. “We tried some different things with suspension setup and tire pressures and ran our fastest laps of the season. The Hankook Ventus Z214 was one of the major reasons for our success this season and as always proved to be the fastest tire in the field.”
