Reston , VA August 19

Hankook Tires/Flatoutracing’s Jon Kofod and Andrew Zimmermann will be re-uniting with ex-teammate Ian Carpenter for the annual 13 Hours at VIR this coming November. Carpenter, Zimmermann and Kofod were all teammates from 2004 to 2006. During that spell the team won three consecutive Honda Challenge titles as well as being the ITA class winners in the 2006 12 Hour race at Summit Point.
The team’s principle sponsor, Hankook Tires USA, will once again provide the team with the most successful tires in SCCA and NASA in hopes of garnering another endurance title. Kofod is currently leading the Mid Atlantic Road Racing Series competitive ITS class again this year on Hankook’s Ventus Z214 tire which has produced two wins, two second place finishes and three pole positions with three races left on the calendar.
The 13 Hour race at VIR will once again be a very competitive race this coming November as teams from around the country will be competing in various classes for overall and class wins. The 13 Hour is also known for its strong driver line ups as many racers from the higher rungs of racing, such as Grand Am Cup, Rolex Series and Speed World Challenge generally compete in the 13 Hour race.
Joining the three Flatoutracing.net drivers will be rookie Bill “Doc” Fox who in his first season of racing in SCCA has proven a quick study. Fox, who has only been racing a year has already impressed many in the paddock with his consistent finishes at the front of the field. Between Kofod, Zimmermann, and Carpenter, the Hankook Tires/Flatoutracing team has four titles and over 35 wins in the past four years.
In addition to Hankook Tires USA, the team will enjoy additional sponsorship from Curry’s Automotive, Guident Technologies, and Davis Acura.
