Honda Challenge Champions Kofod and Carpenter team up for 2005 "Kumho Tires 12 Hours at the Point"!

Feb. 20th Reston

Flatoutracing’s Jon Kofod and iCarp/Team Hankook’s Ian Carpenter have entered one of their three Acura Integra LS cars in the annual Kumho Tires 12 Hour at the Point endurance race this coming June.

Regularly attended by some of the top amateur as well as professional race teams, the 12-hour race is a grueling test of man and machine on the challenging 2 mile Summit Point Raceway course. The 12 Hours at the Point is one of the premier endurance races on the East Coast along with the famous Daytona 24 Hours and the 12 Hours of Sebring. The 12 Hours at the Point has been running since 1999 and has grown substantially in popularity. Last year 51 cars took the green flag at the start of the race.

The Flatoutracing/Hankook Tires team will enter a car in the popular ITA class with a strong driver lineup. Kofod and Carpenter were Honda Challenge East Coast Co-Champions in 2004 and joining them will be teammate Andrew Zimmerman who finished runner up in Honda Challenge in his rookie season. All three drivers dominated the fiercely contested H4 title in 2004 and are now making the switch over to SCCA this season, in addition to competing in Honda Challenge again in 2005.

Hankook Tires, Davis Acura, Curry’s Auto and Guident Technologies, Inc will sponsor the team.
