Wayne, NJ January 27

It was announced this week that the Flatoutracing.net team will once again contest the SCCA MARRS (Mid Atlantic Road Racing Series) for the second consecutive season with the full support of Hankook Motorsports behind the team. Hankook and Flatoutracing.net have successfully partnered each other over the last four seasons.

Hankook Tires/Motorsports and Flatoutracing.net have won over 30+ races in the past three years and garnered three Honda Challenge H4 Championships. Flatoutracing.net driver Jon Kofod narrowly missed a fourth title last year finishing second in the MARRS ITA class.

Last season Kofod surprised the ITA field with consistent fast laps, pole positions, and race wins in a class usually dominated by Hoosier shod cars. Kofod ended the season in strong fashion with three straight wins, capping a successful season that saw him win four races, sit on pole four times and set five fastest laps. In addition Kofod won the SCCA MARRS DC region’s “Frank S. Pohanka” award given to the top racer in a production car who attains the highest season point total.

In addition Andrew Zimmermann, runner up in the previous two years, brought home Hankook Tires and Flatoutracing.net’s third consecutive Honda Challenge H4 title.

This season Kofod will be flying solo for the Flatoutracing.net team as he hopes to bring home the coveted MARRS ITA title. Kofod will be racing on Hankook’s Ventus Z214 tires which helped him win four races in 2006.

“It’s going to be an exciting year for Flatoutracing.net and Hankook Tires. We struggled a bit at times last year at the beginning of the season but this year we are ahead of the game having the prior season’s experience on the new Hankook Ventus Z214’s. I think we will be winning races at the outset” noted Kofod.

The season’s first round will take place April 28th at Summit Point Motorsports Park.
